Bridges: Mrs R from Caverswall, Staffordshire
“Everywhere I go, even people who didn’t know me before my dental treatment, comment on my teeth and ask me where I had them done. I am proud to be a walking advertisement. My choice to have my makeover was one of the best decisions that I have ever made’. ‘I absolutely love my new smile”
This patient also received the following procedures: Bridges and Crowns
Restoring smiles at CCDC.
Following an accolade from a relative, Mrs R registered with our dental office some 12 months ago keen to discover her treatment options to repair & restore her broken down teeth and eager to be able to smile again with renewed confidence.
We always ask many questions before embarking on any dental procedures and the patient is involved each and every step of the way. From Mrs R’s cosmetic evaluation we noted that she felt her teeth were ‘worn’ and that her existing restorations (crowns) were ‘out of proportion and much bigger than the other teeth’. Her main concerns were that generally her teeth were ‘uneven’ and ‘discoloured’. During Mrs R’s new patient consultation and assessment, treatment options were discussed at length regarding her oral rehabilitation and how her dental aesthetics, form and dental function could be much improved upon. Dr Anthony Dash recommended the construction of a ‘wax-up’ model which is a blue print of the final reconstruction that both Mrs R and Anthony could appraise together to ensure that the end result would be the best and most desired smile for her.
A comprehensive treatment proposal was formulated with an array of treatments which would restore not only Mrs R’s smile but her self esteem and her ability to feel confident in the way she looked. Before the treatment could commence, we needed to ensure that the overall foundation of the teeth were healthy and strong in order to support new crowns and bridge units.
Mrs R needed to complete root canal therapy with our Endodontist Mr Gary Zolty on numerous teeth before Anthony could begin his oral rehabilitation program. Anthony found that several teeth had been lost and many of the back teeth had broken down therefore most of the biting pressure was transferred to the front teeth resulting in excessive wear to the front ‘smile’ teeth. It was therefore necessary to re-establish her normal biting position which was achieved with a small fitted appliance behind the upper incisal teeth.
This then allowed the rebuilding phase of the back teeth to be carried out and once completed, the appliance was removed thereby allowing treatment to start on the front teeth.
Overall treatment involved the placement of many new superior all ceramic crown units, tooth coloured fillings, bridgework and porcelain inlay units. Good oral health is paramount in order to ensure the best possible performance and longevity of any dental restorations. Mrs R required many visits with our periodontal department before, during and after her mouth makeover.
