Dental Art, Dental Excellence.
In November 2006 Mr R decided it was time to improve his dental appearance in particular his upper front teeth. At the age of 7 Mr R had been involved in a car accident and the oral injuries sustained necessitated the placement of two upper front crowns (caps) which over the years (Mr R is now 23 years old) had discoloured, were not really the right shape and unsightly grey margins had appeared.
From the completion of his cosmetic evaluation Mr R stated that he would also like to have his teeth ‘a little whiter’ and he wanted ‘to close the small gap between his upper right front tooth and the next tooth’.
Treatment options were discussed with Mr R following his full dental examination and assessment of the diagnosic x-rays, and it was decided that the upper front teeth were of a very poor prognosis due to underlying infection and poor previous root therapy and hence would be best removed and replaced with some new implanted borne teeth.
To fulfil his ‘wish-list’ we also prepared a treatment plan for him to include some upper and lower tooth whitening and the placement of porcelain veneers on the two adjacent incisor teeth so to close the unsightly gaps that Mr R was so conscious of. Before the transformation could begin Mr R needed several lengthy appointments with our registered dental hygienist to ensure that his gums were of optimum health. His upper front teeth were removed in February 2007 and a temporary bridge restoration was placed for the healing period. Mr R then had some Enlighten tooth whitening treatment to provide a much lighter, brighter colour of his upper and lower teeth.
In late April 2007, Mr R returned for the placement of his dental implants and for some additional hygiene treatments with instructions on how to look after the newly sited implants which would be left for some 5 months so that they could fuse and integrate in preparation for the new teeth to be placed.
In September 2007 the treatment was completed with the placement of two upper front implant retained crowns and two porcelain veneers on the adjacent upper teeth. Mr Popat restored the implants with superior Invision crown units and ceramic abutment supports to maximise translucency and provide the best possible aesthetic result for Mr R.
